Sell small used-car dealers a per-car profit tracker
Build a simple online tool for independent used-car dealers. It adds up the purchase price, repairs, fees, and sale price of each car to show the real profit. Dealers pay a monthly subscription so they can stop relying on spreadsheets that hide their margins.
The hard part: reaching independent dealers, who rarely shop for software online and are used to their spreadsheets.
Who pays
Independent dealers pay a small monthly subscription to see what they actually made on each car. One builder reports $293 in monthly recurring revenue from 26 paying dealers, which is their own claim. They did not publish their price, so set your own plan price and test it with your first dealers.
How to build it
Talk to a few local dealers
Visit or call three to five independent lots and ask how they track costs on each car today. Write down every cost type they mention, such as auction fees, transport, repairs, detailing, and title fees.
Build the car cost tracker
Use Claude Code or Cursor to build a web app where a dealer adds a car, logs each cost as it happens, and enters the sale price. Store the data in Supabase and host the app on Vercel.
Show profit per car clearly
Make the main screen a list of cars with total cost, sale price, and real profit for each one, plus monthly totals. Let dealers import their existing spreadsheet so they don't have to start over.
Add a monthly subscription
Add Stripe Checkout with one simple monthly plan and a short free trial.
Find dealers where they gather
Post in dealer Facebook groups and forums, and visit nearby lots in person with a demo on your phone. Share your progress in public on X, as the source poster does.

aydmaxxx reports $293 MRR from 26 paying dealers and 373 active users in the last 28 days. These are the poster's own figures. The tool shows real profit on every car, covering purchase, repairs, fees, and sale, and the poster says dealers pay monthly 'because spreadsheets hide their margin.'
