Email your one-time buyers a monthly plan before buying ads
If you sell a one-time scan or report, build an ongoing version and email it to the people who already bought from you before you spend more on ads. These buyers have already paid once, so they are the most likely to pay every month.
The hard part: building an ongoing version that is worth paying for every month, not just the one-time report again.
Who pays
People who bought your one-time report pay a monthly subscription for ongoing checks. artem_vysotskyi reports that an email offering past buyers 50% off their first month converted at 67%, and that it cost nothing to get those customers. The source does not give a monthly price. Our suggestion is to charge less per month than the one-time report and offer a discount on the first month. This pricing is unproven.
How to build it
List everyone who already paid
Export past buyers of your one-time product from Stripe, with their emails and what they bought.
Decide what to keep checking
Work out what goes wrong again after a buyer's one-time report. For LeakRank, that meant new problems showing up each time the app's code changed.
Build the monthly version
Use Claude Code to build a version that keeps checking automatically and alerts the customer when something new turns up. Store results in Supabase and host on Vercel.
Set up a discounted subscription
Create a monthly plan in Stripe, plus a coupon for a discount on the first month.
Email past buyers first
Send a short, personal email explaining that the one-time report showed one moment in time and the new plan keeps watching. Include the discount link.
Compare results before buying ads
Count how many past buyers subscribed and what that cost you. Only then decide whether paid ads are worth more spending.

artem_vysotskyi reports spending €80 on X ads for LeakRank, a security scanner for apps built with AI coding tools, and making around $50 in revenue. The poster then emailed past buyers of the LeakRank Full Fix Report, offering 50% off the first month of LeakRank Guard, which checks every code change. The poster says that email converted at 67% and the customers cost $0 to get, which are their own figures.
