Sell a Google Sheets template that fixes one painful job
Use AI to build a Google Sheets template for one painful job, like tracking job applications or a household budget, and sell copies on Gumroad or Etsy. Give away a stripped-down free version, then sell related products to the same buyers.
The hard part: finding people who are in the middle of the problem right now and posting to them every day until the free version spreads.
Who pays
People in the middle of the problem buy the full template as a one-time purchase, then buy related products from the same seller. room68ai reports a job application tracker selling for $34, with monthly revenue growing from $1,100 to $4,100 to $6,300 after a resume template, an interview checklist and a salary negotiation script were added. thekuchh reports a $10.70 budget spreadsheet with 808 sales making $16,000 a month. All figures are the posters' own claims.
How to build it
Choose one problem you know
Pick a job you have struggled to track yourself, such as job applications or a monthly budget, where buyers are actively searching for help.
Build the full template with Claude
Ask Claude to design the tabs and formulas, for example a pipeline view, follow-up reminders and a scoring column. Then build it in Google Sheets and test it with your own data.
Make a free cut-down version
Copy the template and keep only the basic tabs. List it free on Gumroad and the full version as a paid product on Gumroad or Etsy, with listing copy written by Claude.
Post daily where buyers look
Run a faceless X account whose bio says what the template does and who it's for. Schedule a few posts a day in one weekly batch, with one call to action, such as 'comment TRACKER', that triggers an auto-reply DM with the free version.
Follow up with free users
Add free-version downloaders to a beehiiv newsletter and send a short series that shows what the full version adds.
Add related products for the buyers
Once the first template sells, build the next things the same buyers need, such as a resume template or a negotiation script for job seekers, and offer them to existing buyers.

room68ai reports that a laid-off engineer built a job application tracker in Google Sheets. He put a stripped-down version on Gumroad for free and sold the full eleven-tab version for $34, a price raised twice since. He sold it from a faceless X account with 3,800 followers that posts 3 times a day, using a 'comment TRACKER' auto-DM. The poster says monthly revenue went $1,100 → $4,100 → $6,300 after adding a resume template, an interview checklist and a salary negotiation script. These are the poster's own figures.
