Rebuild local businesses' old websites before you pitch them
Find well-reviewed local businesses with old, slow, or missing websites and build a modern replacement from their Google listing. Then show the owner a live preview and offer to switch it over for a one-time fee plus a monthly fee.
The hard part: getting busy owners to reply to a stranger's message and agree to move their domain.
Who pays
Local businesses like plumbers, dentists, and roofers pay a one-time build fee plus a monthly fee for hosting, updates, and basic search optimization. Dev_Linc suggests pitching $2,200 one-time plus $197/mo and says this can clear $2k-$4k per client. That is the poster's suggested offer, not reported sales, so treat the pricing as a suggestion.
How to build it
Find well-reviewed businesses with old sites
Search Google Maps for terms like 'plumber near me' or 'dentist [your city]'. Look for businesses with 20-150 reviews whose website looks dated or who have no website at all.
Collect details from their Google listing
Note the business name, services, phone, address, best Google reviews, and any photos they already have.
Build the new site with Claude Code
Give Claude Code the details and ask for a fast, mobile-first site using Astro and Tailwind, with a booking form and clean typography.
Publish a live preview link
Put the site on Vercel so you have a working link you can share.
Send the owner the preview
Send a screenshot and the preview link with a short note saying the site was built from their own Google listing, along with your one-time and monthly price.
Collect fees and switch the domain
Charge the build fee and monthly plan through Stripe Payment Links, then point their domain to the new site.
