Offer YouTubers who reviewed your competitor a sales commission
A marketing method for people who sell an app or online software. Find YouTubers who already made videos about a competitor, then offer them a free account and a share of every sale they bring you.
The hard part: finding creators whose viewers match your buyers and writing short emails that busy channels actually answer.
Who pays
Customers pay you for your app. Each creator earns a commission on the customers they send you, so you pay only when a sale happens and never pay a flat fee upfront. The poster describes the method but does not share results.
How to build it
Search YouTube for competitor reviews
Search YouTube for '[competitor] review' and '[competitor] alternative'. Save each channel, video link, and contact email in an Airtable base.
Keep only channels that review apps
Look through each channel's other videos and drop any that rarely review apps or software. Keep the ones that regularly cover tools like yours.
Set up an affiliate program
Use an affiliate tracking tool such as Rewardful or FirstPromoter, connected to your payment system, so each creator gets their own link. Their commission is then counted for them.
Write a short personal email
Ask Claude to help you write a few-sentence template: name their video, say what your tool fixes, and offer a free account. Fill in the details for each creator, and never ask them to trash the competitor.
Track replies and follow up
Record sends, replies, and sign-ups in Airtable. Give free accounts to creators who reply, and send a single short follow-up to those who don't.

evgenyeyt suggests cold emailing YouTubers who made a video about your competitor: search for '[competitor] review' or '[competitor] alternative', send a short note offering a free account, and offer an affiliate cut instead of a flat fee. The poster's don'ts are asking them to trash the competitor, sending a 5 paragraph pitch, and emailing channels that never review apps. The reason given is that 'they already proved they'll talk about apps like yours.'
