Offer a one-time price next to the monthly plan
If people use your tool once or only now and then, add a one-time or lifetime price next to the monthly subscription. You keep buyers who would pay once but would never subscribe.
The hard part: choosing one-time and lifetime prices that make sense next to your monthly plan for your kind of user.
Who pays
The same customers pay you, but some pay once instead of monthly. SebastianRoehl says 56% of his business revenue comes from one-time lifetime licenses, which is his own figure. mddanishyusuf says his Chrome extension with one-time pricing made $6,467 total in 7 months, which is also self-reported. The exact prices for your tool are a suggestion to test.
How to build it
Check how often people use it
Look at how often people use your tool. If most use it once or a few times a year, a monthly plan is probably losing you buyers.
Set a one-time or lifetime price
Pick a price for a single use, such as one result, or a lifetime license for repeat users. Ask Claude to compare a few price points against your monthly plan.
Add the price in Stripe
Create a one-time price next to your subscription price in Stripe, and connect it to the same checkout or a Stripe Payment Link.
Show both options side by side
Update your pricing page so the monthly plan and the one-time option sit next to each other, each with a one-line description of who it fits.
Compare sales after a month
After a month, check in Stripe how many buyers picked each option and whether total revenue went up. Adjust the one-time price if needed.
