Answer local businesses' missed calls for a monthly fee
Set up an AI phone answerer or an automatic text reply for plumbers, HVAC shops, and other local service businesses. When nobody picks up, it asks the caller what they need and books the job. The business pays you a flat monthly fee.
The hard part: connecting to each client's old scheduling software so bookings actually land on their calendar.
Who pays
Local service businesses pay a flat monthly fee so missed calls turn into booked jobs instead of going to a competitor. One poster says a plumber client made an extra $47k in a month from a simple text reply to missed calls, but that is the client's extra income, not what the builder charged. None of the sources say what they charge clients, so a monthly fee plus a one-time setup fee is only our suggestion. Voice calls cost money for each minute they run, so set the fee high enough to cover the client's call volume.
How to build it
Start with a missed-call text reply
Get a business phone number from Twilio and set it up so every missed call gets an automatic text asking what the caller needs and when. This is the simplest version and works for most first clients.
Add an AI phone answerer
For clients who want calls answered live, set up a voice assistant with a service like Vapi or Retell. Use Claude to write the script: ask what went wrong, the address, how urgent it is, and the best time to come.
Send bookings to the calendar
Use n8n to pass each caller's details into the client's scheduling software or Google Calendar and text the owner a summary. Check early on what scheduling software the client uses, because older systems take the most work to connect.
Test with real after-hours calls
Call the line yourself at night and on weekends with typical problems, such as a burst pipe or no heat. Fix anything in the script that confuses callers before you go live.
Report jobs saved each month
Send each client a short monthly report showing how many missed calls were answered and how many became booked jobs. That report is what keeps them paying.
Bill a flat monthly fee
Charge the setup fee and the monthly plan through Stripe Payment Links.

- Natebuildsai · May 1, 2026
Natebuildsai says they built this for an HVAC client and turned about 60 missed calls a month into booked jobs. These are the poster's own figures. The poster says the hard part isn't the AI but the client's 'ancient scheduling software', and that this is where most voice agent setups fail.
- wildeehq72 · Sep 27, 2026
wildeehq72 says their plumber client made an extra $47k last month from a simple text auto-reply to missed calls. This is the poster's own claim. Their point is that a boring setup beats a human-sounding voice demo.
- TheAIMargin · Aug 10, 2026
The poster says home-service businesses lose real jobs when nobody answers the phone. They estimate an AI voice agent can cost roughly $0.07–$0.31 per minute. Their suggested offer starts with answering calls 24/7 and asking callers what happened.
- ParvezCoder · Aug 14, 2026
ParvezCoder writes that missed calls cost one HVAC or plumbing client '$3,200 per month', which is the poster's own figure. They describe their AI voice agent, which answers HVAC calls 24/7, qualifies leads, and books appointments automatically through n8n.
