Sell contractors a tool that writes and chases their quotes

Build a subscription tool that turns a trade contractor's job notes, voice memos or photos into a branded quote in minutes. Clients pick options, sign and pay a deposit online, and the tool follows up on any quote nobody has signed. HVAC, roofing, electrical, plumbing and renovation contractors pay a monthly fee.

The hard part: getting busy contractors to change how they already quote while several similar new tools compete for the same trades.

Who pays

Small trade contractors pay a flat monthly subscription per business so they stop writing quotes by hand at night and stop losing jobs while they wait on signatures. No source reports revenue for this exact model: one builder reports $0 MRR on day 0, and another offers the tool free. Any pricing is a suggestion.

How to build it

  1. Pick one trade to start

Start with one trade, such as roofing or HVAC. Collect a handful of real quotes so you learn the usual scope wording, line items and options.

  2. Turn notes into a draft quote

Use Claude Code to build an app where the contractor types notes, records a voice memo or uploads job photos, and Claude drafts the scope and line items in the contractor's usual wording.

  3. Make a branded quote page

Host the app on Vercel and store contractors, clients and quotes in Supabase. Each quote gets a link with the contractor's logo where the client can view it, choose options and sign.

  4. Take deposits on signing

Add Stripe checkout to the quote page so the client pays a deposit as soon as they sign, and use Stripe again to charge contractors their monthly fee.

  5. Follow up on unsigned quotes

Schedule automatic reminder emails or texts to clients who opened a quote but have not signed it, and show the contractor which quotes are still open.

  6. Find your first contractors

Offer a free trial to local contractors in your chosen trade through trade groups, supply stores and direct messages, and ask the first users which parts of quoting still take them the longest.

polsia says 400,000 artisan contractors in France still write quotes by hand (the poster's figure). Their tool, Devisio, uses AI to create quotes from job photos, schedules crews and follows up with clients, and is aimed at plasterers, painters and small renovation teams.

  • investing1984 · Jun 3, 2026

investing1984 says they built Cahoni after spending hours every week building quotes by hand, chasing crew schedules and managing client follow-ups across different tools. Cahoni is a voice-first AI: you speak or upload documents and it creates the quote.
